GOST R EX-proof/ATEX Certificate
|
The GOST R Ex-proof (explosion proof) is granted a certificate to indicate that a product is suitable for use in explosive atmospheres and are provided the information needed to use it safely. EX-proof certification is required for components of the devices, the devices themselves, for equipment and systems intended for use in explosive atmospheres. The explosion-proof equipment can be divided into two groups:
• Group 1 - for the mines; • Group 2 - for areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, with the exception of the mines.
The explosion-proof equipment are considered high risk and are therefore subject to mandatory certification. There are several certification schemes for obtaining GOST R Ex-proof. The classification and rules for the certification of explosion-proof equipment are described in the resolution of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology No 28/10 of 19/03/1993 "Methods for certification of electrical equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres."
The criteria for the classification of explosion-proof equipment are almost the same all over the world. They are based on the dictates of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Despite the fact that in many countries the standards are called differently, the content of these standards remains largely unchanged.
The possession of ATEX certified facilitating the obtaining of the Russian corner, but does not exempt from certification. If the same device for different certificates are required, they must be obtained in the following order of succession: 1) certificate of conformity GOST R or RT; 2) Certificate of conformity GOST R EX; 3) permission to start operations.
